From the Bishop's Office
We are finally in the “yellow” phase of the Recovery Plan put in place by the Government of New Brunswick, and this, within the timeframe we had planned.
After a joint meeting of New Brunswick bishops, we have all agreed to open our churches on May 30th and 31st for Pentecost Sunday, a great and significant feast for the whole Church!
We therefore have this week, to properly prepare and put in place within our churches, all the security measures included in our health and safety plan.
It is also very important to advise the faithful that it will be absolutely necessary to register for a precise Mass with your parish office. We must be strict about this. Given the possibly of crowds, adding additional celebrations to your regular schedule may need to be considered in order to meet demand.
It is important to designate a person at the entrance of the church who will ensure, using a list provided by the parish office, that the people who come are actually registered for the specific mass.
We will publish announcements and videos to advise the faithful on our diocesan site, our Facebook, the local newspaper and at the next Sunday's Mass in Caraquet. We invite you to do the same in your parish bulletins, on your Facebook page or your parish website and any other means of communication.
As we did at Easter, the bells of our churches will ring again, for 5 to 10 minutes, at 12 noon on May 31st, Pentecost Sunday.
We will therefore have the joy of meeting once more for the wonderful and grand feast of Pentecost, celebration of the birth of the Church. May the Holy Spirit blow upon us a wind of peace, joy and rediscovered fraternity!
