Celebrations at the "Monument Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption" in Rogersville

This year, 2015, is the centennial of the death of Msgr Marcel-François Richard, founder of the "Monument national des acadiens" the acadian national monument, also known as the Monument Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption (Our Lady of the Assumption Monument). 

Mgr Richard participated in the adoption of August 15th as the national holiday of the Acadian people as well as Ave Maris Stella as the Acadian anthem and the French tricolour decorated with the papal star as the national flag of Acadia.  His objective in building the Monument, located at 2 Saint-Joseph street in Rogersville, was to provide a place of pilgrimage and assembly for Acadians and their friends and families.
 
During this year of remembering, all are invited to the various activies planned, including the following : 

  • Mass celebrating the anniversary of Mgr Richard's death on Thursday, June 18th at 7:00pm
  • Novena to Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption (Our Lady of the Assumption) from August 6th to the 15th
Novena preacher : Bishop Valéry Vienneau, Archbishop of Moncton
 
A special day is reserved for all the English pilgrims of the province. All celebrations on August 10th will be in English.
